It kept me guessing until the end, but even after finishing I feel like there are so many bits that are unresolved.

Hmm, I thought that the characters were awful, the plot was a bit unbelievable and I guessed the ending

What a lot of build-up for a fizzle of an ending. Too bad, I was really rooting for this one.

Pros:
- page turner
- complex characters
Cons:
- obvious things treated as mysteries
- all the taunting by characters who know the truth but just teasing the reader while a good discussion with one of them would have shortened the book by 50%, it just feels unrealistic and like a shallow ploy to keep the reader reading
- what do the men see in the protagonist? She keeps lying to them and using them and they are so devoted.
=> a pleasure to read, but only once

4.5 stars
So there is insane and then there is Elle. I'm not sure how in the world Michelle Adams thought of all the twisted things Elle did. This is a story of relationships - with parents, significant others and especially siblings. Each feels valid and believable in this book. I took off .5 stars because the beginning felt a wee bit (only a wee bit) slow and the end seemed rushed in the need to pull it all together. But Adams does brilliantly in weaving everything together. I will definitely be on the lookout for more books from her.

I really enjoyed this book as I read it, but the ending really fell flat. It seemed that it had such deep plot development that was rushed at the end to meet a page limit. So mooch of the present story is influenced by the past, but I don’t think that past story is told very well at all.

The story of two sisters who lead two separate lives. Irini was given away but Elle was kept. One night, Irini's sister calls her unexpectedly with news that leave her with no other choice but to return to her family home. Is Irini going to get the answers she's desperately hoping for? Or will a harrowing secret make her regret the decision to come back?
Today I have the pleasure of sharing my thought's on Michelle Adams' first novel 'My Sister'. It's a chilling thriller that is bound to feed your cravings. The writing is descriptive and it's easy for the reader to imagine the characters and the setting. The story is addictive which makes it impossible to put the book down.
The characters in the story were brilliantly written; every one of them had a purpose. You can't help but love Irini even though she isn't innocent (although it's not her fault!). At times I was frustrated with her because I would've acted a lot differently in her situation but that wouldn't have got the story very far haha! I have to admit I feel a bit manipulated by Adams' as she managed to make me feel the same about Elle as Irini felt. I hated her during her bad times but couldn't help liking her during her good times. Antonio is a character I felt sympathy towards at the beginning but whom I strongly disliked at the end, nevertheless he adds to the story. I wish we could have got the chance for more interactions between Irini and her father but I understand that it would probably take away from the secrecy!
The story of Irini and Elle is very impressive. Adams' managed to keep suspense from the first page to last. Parts of the story leading to the secret revelation may seem obvious but there's some unexpected surprises. The book seems cleverly planned and it all comes together nicely, especially the ending which will leave you satisfied. One thing that must be highlighted is that in most books when you come across the topic of toxic relationships it's usually between an intimate couple so I found it refreshing to read about the twisted relationship between two sisters.
I decided to give 'My Sister' a rating of five stars because it's simply clever and very disturbing - two qualities that are necessary in a psychological thriller. I can't believe how fantastic Adams' debut novel is, I truly hope she's got another one in the works because her writing deserves to be shared! I honestly recommend you read 'My Sister' as you will not be disappointed!

Maybe 1.5. Did not care for characters at all.
Synopsis: Again, it has been a long while but what I remember is Irini’s sister Elle has stalked her in the past and is now back. It turns out her mother has passed. Irini barely knew her mother or father as she was “given away”, to be raised by rather indifferent people (can’t remember if they were family or not). She goes back to the family home and spends time with Elle, despite knowing that she is dangerous. In the end she realizes there was another sister- a middle one- who was actually named Irini. Elle “accidentally” killed that sister (pushed her down some stairs- the parents were aware that it was more intentional than accident) and had covered it up to save Elle. They put her in an institution for a while but also gave our main character Irini’s identity so no one would know, then gave her away to protect her from Elle.
Thoughts: It was really convoluted and supposed to show parental love and devotion but really no one came out likely. Irini came off dumber than she should in her quest. I remember I kind of rushed to the end just to get it done.
