Ik vond dit boek veel beter dan ik had verwacht! Het boek is spicy, maar ik vond dit goed in het verhaal passen. Adrian is ook echt geweldig. Hij is duister en mysterieus. Hij heeft vreemde acties, maar zijn beweegredenen zijn op het einde logisch en helder. Ik vond dat het verhaal een goed verhaallijn had en dat de spice daar helemaal geen afbreuk op deed. Ook vond ik het plot slim bedacht. Ik zelf had halverwege de puzzelstukjes al bij elkaar gevonden, maar ik wou perse doorlezen om te zien of ik gelijk had. Het boek staat vol mooie quotes en uitspraken. Het eindigt een beetje op een cliffhanger, dus ik ga zeker de andere delen lezen als deze vertaald zijn! Ik heb de prachtige limited edition mogen ontvangen van zomer&keuning en ik kan je vertellen dat deze zo ontzettend mooi is. De schrijfstijl van deze auteur is in dit boek wederom erg prettig. Het boek leest snel weg en ik vind dat het heel beeldend geschreven is. Ik voel echt alle emoties die door het boek worden beschreven, alsof ik het zelf meemaakt. Ik vond het echt een perfect boek en het had zeker een 5 ster kunnen zijn als het woord "neuken" niet zovaak voor zou komen. Het woord "neuken" klinkt zo bot en grof. Ik had het veel fijner gevonden als er een andere benaming gebruikt werkt. Ik stoor me bijvoorbeeld veel minder aan het woord "seks", omdat dit veel minder grof klinkt. Ook stonden er wat spelfouten in. Ik heb ondanks deze kleine punten wel enorm genoten van het boek.

“All of the Stars in the Sky are not as bright as my love for you.”
I finished this one two days ago, I could not put it down and stayed up WAY later than I should have on a work night just because I couldn’t put this one down. All the things I love are contained in this one- MMC is smokin’ hot; FMC is intelligent, cares for others, has a deep sense of loyalty and doesn’t expect someone to save her because she is capable of saving herself. There is a lot of focus on the main character’s relationship but also has a good bit of political intrigue, and the conflict comes from all sides.
Drawbacks (I know I gave it five stars, I couldn’t put it down…)
Secondary characters are interesting and done well, but with a few more pages committed, this could have been epic. Without giving spoilers, there are several simultaneous conflicts occurring at the same time, which is great…but again, with more pages committed to fully fleshing this out, could have been epic as well.
Bottom line, still a five star read for me….I would read it again, I am going to keep it and not sell it back for more books, and I had a hard time going to bed on a work night because I could not put it down…the definition of a five star read for me. Two days after finishing it, I am still thinking about it and I think this one could have easily been two books with both about 400 pages.

I wanted to like this more than I did.
There is a tad too much focus on the smut, and not quite enough on plot or character development for my personal taste. But it was a very easy and quick read that I still enjoyed. Currently have rented and am reading the next book in the series because I’m curious enough that I wanted to know what might happen next lol.

I am completely obsessed with this series.
It was my first dark fantasy romance and I ATE THAT SHIT UP!!
I can not properly explain how much I loved this book. Apart from the fact I already love vampires and dark fantasy in other media. Reading through this story was like a breath of fresh air. Having medieval style vampires instead of twilight vampires (EW!)
The direction of the story surprised me completely and honestly, 5 months later I still can not believe that ending. At 2am in the morning I wanted to scream at the betrayal. That bastard.
I have read book 2, book 3 really is testing my patience, the release date needs to hurry up and get here!

I don't know how to rate this. Do I think it's a Good Book? Absolutely not.
Do I think it's good within its category? I don't hate it? The category being: smut/porn with a plot/romantasy.
I didn't find it as predictable as others have noted. I did find myself wanting to continue reading. Okay, the exception being that there was a part in the book where I couldn't bear another sex scene so close together for lack of substance. But after that, it got better.
Basically: it's an easy, enjoyable read. Don't expect too much.
Also, I'm not one for quotes but that part where he goes something like "you doubt my ability to conquer a kingdom, fuck my queen, and hunt a witch?" LOVED IT.
