Patriot by Alexei Navalny is an inspiring memoir of a man who firmly believed in his convictions and who showed strength and perseverance first as a lawyer, then working with the political party Yabloko before going on to establish a new party, Russia of the Future, and the Anti-Corruption Foundation, which is wife, Yulia Navalnaya, continues to lead.
There is a lot of dark humour, anger, frustration and despair, told in his own words, that will continue to move and inspire others. It is very apparent that Navalny was a brave and resilient man, with a family who he loved and colleagues who he admired and appreciated. He fought against a corrupt regime and paid with his life. It was difficult to read knowing how it ended and it does finish with a powerful final social media post.
I own a copy of this book and listened to it on Audible. I read this for prompt 52, Published in 2024, for the 52 Book Club Reading Challenge 2024.

A riveting first-person account of a maverick who fought for the freedom of Russia as its opposition leader until his untimely death. “Patriot” is a gripping memoir that illustrates Alexi Navalny’s commitment to fight against Russian corruption, graft, and the oppression of individual liberties.
