I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a reminder that human goodness is still possible. After watching the documentary on Navalny last year, I was almost afraid to read his memoir. It included his prison diaries, and I wanted to remember him as the funny, fearless person I saw in the doc and not whatever was left of him after he was forced to live in horrific conditions for the crime of speaking the truth in an authoritarian country.

But he did not change, he was not broken. In fact, he joked on Instagram about how "refreshing" his 6:30 a.m. walk in subzero temperatures was a month before being killed by Putin and his thugs in an Arctic penal colony. Throughout his imprisonment, he spent his energy finding contentment in the simplest pleasures and reassuring his supporters that he was OK, and that they were not alone in wanting to live in a world that isn't based on lies and fear. He was a true hero, patriot, and Christian. Just remarkable.

Incredible, awe-inspiring autobiography that shows that heroes still exist, and that Putin is a petty, cowardly, corrupt, tyrannical murderer. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to be inspired.
