To begin, this book is written well there is nothing wrong with it and I am sure many people will enjoy it. I did not, maybe had the first chapter not been nearly a third of the book it would have been easier to get through.
The problem I had with this book was because of the characters and their actions. I find it difficult to read a book if I cannot find a single character to like.
I am also upset that this book is considered "Chick Lit". The idea that a story portraying women acting horrible to themselves and others is intended for a female demographic is both depressing and insulting.
Maybe one day I will finish this book, but right now I have to stop and move away from it.

I’ve never read anything quite like this book. So good I missed my train stop because I couldn’t put it down. It’s engrossing, heart-wrenching, infuriating, and simply ingenious. One of the reviews on the back of my edition calls it “a gleefully salacious story”—they’re right, but don’t underestimate how much this novel will twist your gut. It takes a long hard look at what it takes to be a woman who “has it all,” and shows you the impossibility and self-destroying fate of such a quest.

the view of feminity evolving throughout this book and the oddness of being able to read through the tumultuous periods of the Dolls' lives make me jealous and afraid of following in some of their footsteps. fun read!
