This made me feel terrible. I’m glad I was in the woods to remind me that New York City is just a figment of Jacqueline Susann’s warped imagination

Trashy fun and just as addicting as the dolls featured prominently in the story. Slow to start with the dull Anne, but it begins to pick up once we start learning about Jennifer. Of course, Neely steals the show as the demanding star she is, and I found myself most interested in her selfishness and final decline.

I expected a trashy beach read, and now I’m crying. Fuck everything about this book.

Vintage beach read. Got to read it at a vintage motel in the jersey shore making it an even better reading experience. Amazing insight into what motivates people and how life choices get made. Perfect time capsule for the time period it’s set in (1940-1960’s) Language is, of course, dated but that is to be expected. Do not expect it to be so frank about sex and women’s issues.

I read this book because an online article about Lindsay Lohan mentioned her similarities to one of the characters. It's definitely there, and it was an interesting, fast read.
