I started this series at the end of last year. Frankie, the female main character, has her own quirky style of solving mysteries. She is open with her own issues and why she searches for missing people.

In this book, characters from book one are referenced but you could read this book as a stand alone. Book one had Frankie exploring Boston while this book is based in the woods and unexplored wilderness.

In some ways, the mystery has a tad bit of supernatural feeling. Unexplained happenings occur to the group and more and more of them get seriously hurt.

At first, I wasn’t sure how Frankie was going to fit into this group of strangers. But her power to listen and ask questions really impacted the story the most.

The ending and mystery being solved was strange and kinda anti-climatic. I am curious to see what adventure Frankie goes on in the future.

I read this book as part of the #clearmybackbacklist challenge and this month’s #mrdreads2025.

Suspenseful, intriguing, and gut-wrenching.

You know. During parts of this book I was like “I wonder if this is a series. There’s a lot of information about characters we are never going to meet!” And it turns out I was right, but it worked as a standalone and I think I’ll leave it there.

I really liked this sequel. It was much different than the first book and had me on the edge of my seat. A lot of confusing plot lines that all came together in the end. I really liked it!
