Again very simple writing style that I just didn't enjoy much. There was hardly any description for the surroundings which was a shame because there was so many amazing places in this book.
Altair was an irritating character very simple to ezio, full off himself so people got killed and the part I enjoyed the most was the ending as I felt it was leading on to something big but generally it could have been written better.

A book that’s a great joy to read. A book about the first Assassin’s Creed game. This story covers the events of the first Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines and certain events that happen in Assassin’s Creed Revelations.
You’ll find out a bit more about Altaïr, his relationship to others and his friends and family. Find out what he thought at certain times and see his life unfold from a young boy to his death. Even though I knew 90% of this story through the games it still made me wanna read it with excitement.
It may not be the most original Assassin’s Creed novel but it may still be one of the best.

Teenage me loved these books but present me is disappointed. Game pacing just doesn't translate well to books.

I've only played the first Assassin's Creed once about a decade ago so I'm not sure how closely this follows the game - a lot of it was very familiar but I can't remember if the game has the 20 years later time skip thing at the end or not - but I think most of it is just a straightforward adaptation. Overall a pretty decent book even though Altair has never been my favorite character in the series. I also feel like the whole 'Niccolo Polo is writing this' framing device was entirely pointless up until the very end but at the end of the day I just wanted an audio book that I didn't have to pay a lot of attention to and this fit the bill.

Altair was the first protagonist of the long-running Assassin's Creed franchise, back in an age when storytelling in video games was not taken in such high regard as it is nowadays. This book did an incredible job in expanding the mythology of the first Master Assassin (no matter how many games Ubisoft invents before the events of AC 1, Altair will always be the first!), building on characters and events in a way that the game was not capable of doing. A must-read for fans of the franchise and even for those who never played the games but are looking for their next Fantasy book!

As a huge fan of the games I knew I would love this book before I even started reading it. In this case I think I enjoyed reading the book more than playing the game. However, the two are totally different experiences. This is the third Assassin's Creed book I've read (the others being Unity and Black Flag) and Bowden seems to be able to translate the games into these novels exceptionally well. For most of the book I pretty much knew what was going to happen until the last twenty chapters or so which was completely new story that I devoured with pleasure.
