I found this collection of short stories quite mixed. Some had really interesting plots amd seemed very magical while others felt underdeveloped and incoherent.

Animals: 4/5, I found the plot very unique and quite intriguing
Jacob: 5/5
Plum Pie, Zombie Green, Yellow Bee, Purple Monster: 2/5
In the Dark: 2/5
Margaret and Mary and the End of the world: 5/5
Little Deaths: 2/5
The Beginning of the World in the middle of the night: 5/5
Pebbles: 5/5
Aunt Libby's Coffin Hotel: 3/5
Sea Devils: 2/5
Human Satellites: 3/5
Bright White Hearts: 2/5

Really enjoyed this collection. My favourites were definitely the beginning of the world, animals, and little deaths. Campbell plays with the body, fairytale, folklore to creat unnerving stories. It feels like they explore a lot given their short span. The lgbt and disability rep didn’t feel forced and came naturally. Would love to read something more long-form from Campbell

I think I'm going to have to reread this book at some point, because I really like it but I don't think I get it.
