My wonderful group of gladiatrix returns! I really enjoyed the sequel of "The Valiant" with the action, the romance and the mystery! Fallon is the star gladiatrix of her ludus with her sister and her fellow warriors ready to enjoy a life of freedom. But when folly forces them to escape, followed by Cai and his friend Quintus, they will discover a plan to even overthrow Ceasar himself.
With cameo appearances of Cleopatra, sea travel to an island of 'Amazons' and lots of time to have banter, romantic declarations and even some funny times, this book became one of my favorites in January! Not to mention that the battle scenes were movie worthy!

I enjoyed this very much. I thought it was a great ending to the duology.
I just wish there was a bit more to the ending. A little after. Would have loved to see how it turned out for Fallon, Cai and the others.

How can anyone not love a book that's about gladiator women kicking ass and taking names, while forming a sisterhood family that looks out for each other???

Maybe it’s just because I enjoy learning about this time period but I freaking loved these books. Historical fiction might have made it as one of my top three favorite genres. Thank you kindly, Ms. Livingston.

Things got much less believable in this installment. I'm still wavering about reading the last book, but I probably will anyway. This book didn't really have a cliffhanger though, so I'm not sure where the plot will be going.

Pleased with this sequel that follows the adventures of a band of gladiatrices, but irked at cliffhanger... will dive into the third book when it’s released :)
