It ended
on a cliffhanger
, which I wasn't expecting and didn't enjoy. That probably ties into some of the overall pacing problems I had with some story arcs.

I wanted to try a werewolf/fated mate story, which was the main reason I read this. I liked Aurelia and the pack's relationship quite a bit. Weston was just kinda.... Generic Stoic Manly Man. He felt interchangeable.

I can't say I was overly impressed or interested in this particular story, but it did spark curiosity in another spin off genre.

I enjoyed this offshoot series focusing on wolf shifter Weston, as it offered some interesting world building from the perspective of the wolves. I also thought Aurelia’s involvement in producing drugs, the impact she unintentionally has upon communities, and her Stockholm Syndrome symptoms  was an interesting twist to the story. I do feel like the pacing is a bit slow — I was hoping they’d get to the dragon kingdom before the end of the book, but instead we’re left with a big cliff hanger. Likewise, some plot points, like her experimenting with the laces drugs, felt like it was forgotten by the end of the book. I’m assuming that will pick back up in the next book? I’m hoping that will be available on kindle unlimited too when it comes out in September!

Was not expecting a Red Riding Hood re-telling where Red is whipping up drugs and Granny is moving weight 😅
It wasn’t the story I was expecting, but is was dang good ok! So we have Aurelia, a magic-less wolf who has been taken into Granny’s operation under the guise of safety. Although she is shunned by her community, she is the most valuable player they have as the major chemist in their front. In comes Weston, our broody Alpha who is tasked with collecting the drug maker and returning her to the dragon kingdom to face judgement. His mission becomes muddied when he discovers his captive is not only his mate, but also an unknowing participant. This was such a hot, heavy, and action packed ride. Aurelia is truly the perfect match to Weston’s tortured soul. The ending ends of a gut churning cliffy so heads up if that’s not your thing! You don’t need to read the prior installments of the Deliciously Dark universe to read this, but you definitely should read Finley’s story first if you don’t want any spoilers.
