Book four in the DS Cross series starts with no pre-amble and straight into the death of an ex-mayor and current online agony aunt which looks to be a burglary gone wrong, however something doesn't feel right to Cross who, along with his team and a new DCI, uncover far more than expected. Cross is "on the spectrum" and as with the previous books in this excellent series, is very much his own person, although his work partner Ottey, being more used to his ways, is increasingly helping him be more empathic when needed. It's fast paced, loads of twists and soke humour mostly involving Cross's lack of social understanding. There's a sub plot which began in the previous book involving his mother who has reappeared into his life which i really enjoyed, but the murder investigation and Cross's interview techniques are standout.
Another great addition to the series.

Another well-constructed mystery, some of the eprsonal elements less apeealing, especially the egregious behaviour of the priest.
