A graphic novel told in alternating timelines: Madrid in the early '80s and Barcelona in the early 90s. Alejandra and Julio meet in college, drift away from one another, briefly find one another again, and reflect on their regrets. I found this flat and tepid. Neither of the main characters had much depth to them—Alejandra perhaps more so than Julio—and their relationship lacked weight. I wasn't moved by either their coming together or their falling apart, something which wasn't helped by the rather clunkily translated dialogue or by the artwork.

While the style of the art is lovely and there are some beautiful individual panels and pages, some of the characters had pretty much the same face. Cut-and-paste faces and inconsistent hairstyles, all rendered in monochrome palettes, meant that I struggled to tell who was who. Ultimately not for me.

Not a fan. This is a romance/missed connections story told over two different time periods. one shows the young lovers meeting in university and then being separated by a move. Alejandro seems to have ghosted Julia. They meet again years later and he tries to get back together and she shuts him down.

I found the romance tepid and uninspiring. These two seem to barely like each other, though maybe that is something as neither seems to like anyone else, and I don't feel like they have much going on. Yes, their later romantic partners are also flat and probably unsatisfying, but if the main romantic story is the best you've ever had, some sort of interventions is in order.

Emotiva, sencilla, bonita.

I read this for the location, but the book didn't have as strong of a sense of place as I was hoping for. It wasn't super compelling but it wasn't terrible either.
