What a blast! Reading this book was like winning the lottery ticket for the adventure of a lifetime. Man, how I wish my life was that interesting...

A controversial book with which I have struggled because of the alienating language and its racial emphasis. A novel in which character is formed and developed but that doesn't magically dissolve all the problems of an institutionally racist society.

Sadly, I do not like this book. I didn’t like it when I had to read it in high school, so I thought I would give it another chance. Personally, Huck is a difficult character for me to like so I think the story from his perspective is off putting. It isn’t for me, but I can understand why it is a classic.

Never read this in school, but wanted to before reading James. Funny at times, lots of important moral, social, ethical themes to wade through.

Extremely dated! Hard to take in parts. Not as funny as it once was.
