Meh. I think she does a better job writing about witches and vampires than angels. I won't read any more of this series.

I quite liked it. I enjoyed seeing a true redemption arc and it was cool seeing this assassin work to change his ways in Medieval times.
Graphic: Child death, Hate crime, Antisemitism, Religious bigotry, and Suicide attempt

OMG...SO GOOD! This was my first Anne Rice novel and I can't wait to read more from this series! I am absolutely, positively in LOVE with Toby. I want to hug him and pray with him and talk scripture and angels with him. I am so ecstatic for how he has changed his life and I think it shows the power of God. I just...sigh...LOVE.

I didn't really enjoy this book like I have with past Anne Rice novels. If I could give it a 2.5 that is what I would put down for this book.

Definitely not her best, and the clumsy product placements kept pulling me right out of the story. It's bad enough having to put up with this sort of advertising in movies and tv, but now a once great author is shoving them blatantly in her books. I say "no thank you!"

This was an ok, read seemed like the dialogue was redundant in places.

I had to read a book by Anne Rice for a reading challenge I am enrolled in online. I tried the Witching Hour but I could not stay interested for the great length of the book. I am not a fan of vampire stories, so I picked this one, figuring angels should be a safe topic. I really had no idea what to expect. Wow! The story follows Toby O'Dare, an assassin called Lucky whose luck appears to run out on a job. We learn of his young life and follow him into the past. I loved this book and look forward to reading book 2. I listened to the audio version of this book. Paul Michael is one of the best readers and was perfect for this book.
