Não existem dúvidas, a paixão é, para alguém que se preze, um perigo sem igual. Ora vejamos, provoca palpitações no coração (algo também conhecido pelo assustador nome de taquicardia!), entorpece o nosso raciocínio (ou seja, fazemos mais vezes figura de parvos!), faz-nos sentir algo parecido com “borboletas” no estômago (portanto deixamos de comer, preocupante!) e, em casos realmente agudos, pode ainda causar excesso de transpiração (nem comento…) e alterações de humor (que ninguém merece aturar!).
Tudo isto se confirma, certo? Portanto, alguém que me explique como é que é possível que este terrível Mal ande à solta, seja recomendado e, não raras as vezes e as lágrimas, nos deixe altamente felizes!

Paixões à Solta é uma narrativa hilariante, com um enredo atribulado e personagens absolutamente genuínas que nos cativam do princípio ao fim. Amor e morte, risos e lágrimas, surpresas e segredos, são apenas alguns dos factores que contribuem para que, num curto espaço de tempo, nos vejamos emaranhados em situações peculiares neste livro onde tudo é possível.

Jill Mansell tem um humor muito próprio com o qual já me sinto familiarizada mas, por incrível que pareça, conseguiu uma vez mais surpreender-me pela positiva. A sua imaginação prodigiosa, acompanhada de uma escrita satírica e diálogos absolutamente mordazes, que fazem as delícias de qualquer leitor que, finaliza a sua obra, dará por si a suspirar por mais.

Light weight and predictable but also enjoyable

This is a fun light read which you can pick up and put down again without anything essential being lost. For me, it needed about a third of it cutting as 500 pages for a comic romance is ridiculous. It also has a lot of scenarios we've all read before and one scenario that is basically pinched from a real-life story of a few years ago - which seemed to be cheating somewhat ... However, I kept on reading, and it's all nicely sorted out in the end, which is exactly what you need in a light romance.

I haven't read a Jill Mansell yet that I didn't love! Her books are so much fun. Lots of interesting characters and storylines. I didn't get to bed until 4am because I was enjoying this one so much!

Daisy MacLean runs the country house hotel owned by her flamboyant father, Hector. When she hears who's about to get married there, she isn't worried at all - her friend Tara absolutely promises there won't be any trouble between her and ex-boyfriend Dominic, whom she hasn't seen for years. But Dominic has other ideas... Meanwhile, Hector's getting up to all sorts with...well, that's the village's best kept secret. And then Barney turns up, with a little something belonging to the husband Daisy's been doing her best to forget. That's the thing about hotels, you never know who you're going to meet. Or whether they're going to stay...

I liked the characters, but the writing was somewhat juvenile. Too chick-lit-y for me.

Loved the twist & turns. You never know who is going to end up with who. Also loved all the lives interwined.

Spijtig om te melden, maar dit is het eerste boek van Jill Mansell wat ik echt niet leuk vond. ik vond de personages vervelend. Er gebeurt bar weinig en wat er gebeurt is nogal onwaarschijnlijk voor een boek als dit. Jammer, op naar de volgende van Jill. Want over het algemeen geniet ik altijd erg van haar boeken!
