The book is good. Characters well written and great. I'm just blah about it though. Waiting so long for it to come out and then it just be ho-hum is a bit disappointing. I'll read #5 whenever it comes out, I truly like the series but I'm not going to wait anxiously for it like I did this one. It'll happen eventually and I'll read it, eventually. Sorry Brett, you missed something with this one, for me anyway. Cheers.

Better than the last but I’m honestly just starting to get annoyed with this series. I miss the first book.

#4 in the Demon Cycle. It took me a little longer to read - at 769 pages but I really liked it. Of course there were parts I hated when favorite characters were killed off but such is the way of most good books like these. Definitely starting #5 soon.

This is my favorite of the series so far. It has fantastic world-building, complex characters, gripping action, it's frequently surprising, and it doesn't shy from the horrific. This book is full of hard choices and actions that can't be taken back.

The court intrigues and subsequent consequences had me spellbound. The characters' actions and reactions pulled me in and didn't let me go until I turned the very last page. I hated leaving this incredible world.

This is the book that made the characters real for me. The character development added layer after layer of complexity to each character until I felt like I understood each decision, each heart-stopping action and each gritty remark. I now feel like I'm truly immersed in this fantasy world. This fourth book is exactly what the series needed. Brett is a brilliant writer.
