Can’t really mark it as read because it was hard to get through. Character development is SO slow and I’m about halfway through and just feel obligated to pick the book back up instead of feeling excited to read it. Pretty sure there was a 5 page section where she just wrote about squirrels. Who wants to read about that. The tandems and unrelated character development bored me

This book was fine. I think the story was interesting enough and it was infuriating that the case was not taken more seriously by the legal system or the university. I am not sure how I feel about the narrator. She seems knowledgeable, an insider, but also unreliable and arrogant at times. Overall, I think she had good voice and interwove her story and the investigative story well.

This book is SO good. Part memoir, part true crime, it takes a deep look into trauma around sexual violence, rape culture, the judicial system, college football culture, family drama and psychology. It sounds like a lot going on, and it was, but it all worked together so well! The writing was engaging and informative. It kept my interest and I learned so much. I will definitely be recommending this book often! Loved it!

The writing was really beautiful even though the subject was not. I appreciated the interwoven threads of Erika's life with what she was investigating.
