This is a fabulous and fascinating book. Not just a portrait of Apsley Cherry-Garrard but also of his times and social background and of heroic England.
Also the effects on someone of doing something exceptional in life and how you live with and move on (or not) from that.
Very well written, not afraid to be critical when required.
I have read Sara Wheeler's Terra Incognita and it is stunning. And Cherry's classic The Worst Journey. Builds on and adds to both of those.
Superb and recommended.

Wahrscheinlich die langweiligste Biografie, die ich je gelesen habe, und hoffentlich die langweiligste, die ich je lesen werde.

This is a really excellent biography. It's quite hard to remain compelling reading when the pivotal event in a person's life happens early on, but Sara Wheeler manages it. It is ultimately a very moving book to the end.
