Not a bad book, but also not great. Entertaining. It’s the first and only Rizzoli & Isles book I’ve read and it was ok. A lot going on in a short 300 pages with everything neatly wrapped up in the end like at the end of a decent crime show but I guess I just expected more. It was on the predictable side if you can get past all of the colorful characters and elaborate details that didn’t matter in the end. I enjoyed myself and was happy to have read it.

My first Gerritsen and overall pretty good read. There are four POVs - Rizzoli, Isles, Rizzoli's mother and Amy, who's injured in a car crash early on and is being followed by a mystery man. Despite the many shifts in POV the story holds together pretty well and is a pretty decent page turner. Rizzoli & Isles are investigating the murder of a nurse, killed in an apparent robbery - but before she died she made a series of puzzling phone calls and web searches. Rizzoli's mother is involved in some neighbourhood disputes and a strange couple have moved in across the road and a mysterious van keeps turning up.
It wasn't hard to figure out what was happening with the strange couple. Likewise the identity of the mystery man. There were a couple of other good twists pulled out, all supported by cunningly hidden clues. However, the major twist hung on the murdered nurse happening to come across somebody 30 years later in a completely different state - in a country of 320 million people I wasn't convinced by the plausibility. Otherwise this was a good read, well edited and the author is clearly very good at her trade.
Overall I'd rate this as a 3.5.

Thank you NetGalley for the Arc of Listen To Me by Tess Gerritsen in return for my honest review.
I was really looking forward to reading this new Rizzoli and Isles book as its been ages since the last one although this is book 13 in the series it can be read as a standalone. The story moves at a good pace with all the usual characters and with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I really liked how Jane Rizzoli’s mum Angela had a bigger part in this book, she turned super sleuth with her own investigation, missing girl, new neighbours who are not what they seem…. this ran seamlessly along side the usual Rizzoli and Isles investigation. Can’t wait for the next instalment.

Reading the newest release in a beloved series is like snuggling in a warm blanket with your favorite snack. You love the characters and the story just continues to take you on their journey. I really liked how this story gave us more of Angela's perspective while also find a clever way to link what was happening on her street with Jane's case. The multiple story lines could have gotten confusion, but not by Gerritsen!

This was a really multi-layered story- my first from Tess Gerritsen. It was recommended to me by a coworker.
I’ll say it was a quick read, at least. It kept me very engaged. I was a little confused by all the characters, but I guess that’s the nature of the detective world.
I wish we could’ve learned more about Maura and Daniel, but maybe that’s from another book.
My only critique is that it felt like the Sofia Suarez case was underdeveloped. I understand it with the flow of the storyline, but I wish Gerritsen included a chapter on Jane and Frost talking to that tech-whiz kid and the neighbor about what happened. As a close to that storyline.

Czuje jakbym przeczytała tragi-komedię o wścibskiej staruszce. Zbrodnia poszła w cień przy matce Jane Rizzoli.
