On the Civilized Worlds, the government (called the Union) forbids decadence, including sexual desire and pleasure. This never ends well. People with psychic powers are nabbed and it’s implied that horrible things happen to them offscreen.
Micah has psionic powers and enjoys sex. He’s a member of the Restoration, who work against this fairly new anti-hedonic regime. All of this makes him a wanted man. He makes himself bait for the government’s Vice Hunters, and their best, the Huntress, always gets her target.
Treska knows she’s hunting down a dangerous criminal called a mindsnake. He has the power to do terrible things to minds and needs to be put away for the good of people. She finds him and is to take him in, but something’s a little off.
The chase itself is fraught and tense. The two tangle, then he breaks loose, then she gives chase again. Vehicle maneuvers, drugged darts, mental tricks, and hand-to-hand combat! I look forward to reading about what happens to prisoner and captor.
