A challenging read. So many characters and so much history changed. I enjoyed it, even if I wasn’t sure what was happening at times—which the Foreward says is a hallmark of the author’s style.

Not at all what I was expecting. I thought this was going to be a typical fantasy novel, and it turned out more like Dorothy Dunnett historical fiction that just happened to include wizards and vampires.

My enjoyment of the story was somewhat hampered by my ignorance of British history. It's hard to appreciate alternate history when you're unfamiliar with the original events that are being riffed on. It took most of the book for me to figure out just which Richard was the one involved.

This was a good book, but may be a great book if I had a better understanding of the war of the roses before starting it. Will probably read again in a few years and see what I missed

This my first experience with a really detailed alternate history fantasy novel. I think that I would have enjoyed it more if I had taken it more seriously while reading. I'm under the impression that I understood most of it - or at least that I got most of the historical references - but I think that this is the type of book that would have benefited a lot from a comprehensive set of foot notes or a reader's guide.

Overall, it was pretty good. I don't regret reading it, but I don't know that most people would enjoy it.

Многие сравнивают данную книгу с «Игрой Престолов» и сходства точно не малы (для справки «Дракон не дремлет» вышла до произведения Мартина) – за основу взята «Война Роз», предательства, интриги, борьба за власть и т.д. Но все это не значит, что одна из книг лучше или хуже другой.
«Дракон не дремлет» - обладает уникальным стилем автора, написана, я бы смело утверждал бы, в более классическом фэнтази стиле и захватывает вас с первых страниц. И это законченная история, которую уместили в одной книге.
Также хожу отметить прекрасное издание книги от Fanzon. После прочтения, книгу можно смело ставить на подставку и наслаждаться завораживающей обложке где-нибудь на видно месте у вас дома.
