This was a very interesting read. Hearing about life inside ISIS from those who experienced it first-hand is an unbeatable way to learn more about a group that has caused, and continues to cause, incomprehensible levels of carnage in the Middle East and abroad.

My only complaint about this book was the poor quality of the writing. There's a difference between writing scholarly papers, and writing books that can appeal to a larger audience of laymen, and it's not easy to do. That difficulty was very apparent in the writing of this book, and it was often distracting. The steady hand of a really good editor would have done wonders. If you can ignore the uneven quality of the writing, however, then I recommend this.
