The Prose Edda (Annotated): The Myths of the Vikings with a New Foreword by Snorri Sturluson

Maybe I went into this with misplaced expectations, but it ended feeling as though I was reading the first chapter in the gospel of Matthew: begats and begats and lists of people. It wasn't until halfway through this abbreviated version that actual stories started to happen.
But even then, the last third of it was stories of random alternative names for gold.
The audiobook was well told, but I was disappointed by the stories, I expected something closer to Aesop's Fables and got Matthew.
