Bellonna was wrongfully accused as a witch and unalived by her best friend. In her final moments, she calls out to Lilith and trades her soul for the power to avenge. Three hundred years go by, and Bellonna becomes the legend of Bloody Mary, helping the wronged and weak. When she appears to a summoner, she is captivated by the unicorn shifter. Though she agrees to help him, her k!ll is thwarted by a vampire MC. Haunting two vamps who saved her unicorn, Bellonna is amused by their attempts to protect the man she has claimed. When she takes her unicorn to Hell, he returns her claim. Bloody Mary is summoned once more, though this time she will get to enact her final revenge against the descendants of her own unalivers. Who better to have at her sides than the psycho vampire who revels in her blood and his brother, who is losing his fight against the ache to claim both Bellonna and her unicorn?
It was messy, it was bloody, and the spice was spicing! Bellonna is a totally baddie, from her attitude to her appearances. Varys, Blackwell, and Warrick weren't afraid to jump headfirst into her battle at her side. I loved the different dynamics between each of the characters. Bellonna also knew how to appeal to the desires of each of her men, which makes everything just a little more fun. I didn't consider Bloody Mary as a legend, but this retelling was imaginative and fun.
