This is a brother’s best friend/close proximity romance that is as adorable as it is spicy. Wes plays pro hockey with Josie’s brother, but these two actually meet by serendipitous happenstance out front of an art gallery before they know who each other are. They have a wild night together and lose touch but reconnect when Wes offers to let Josie stay at his place at her brother’s request. Of course their burgeoning feelings need to be put aside to keep the peace because Josie’s brother has made it clear Josie is off limits to any of the players on the team. Josie and Wes become friends and watching them try to resist their romantic/lustful feelings for each other was quite entertaining and you can’t help but root for them because they are so sweet together - Josie leaves him notes and fruit while he helps her with her list (improv was adorable).
Another layer of tension is added by Wes's relationship with his dad who is his agent, but is also overly involved with Wes's training and diet. Josie's presence in his life gets him to loosen up a bit but things go off the rails when Wes has a bad week and inevitably starts pulling back from Josie.
Lauren Blakely’s writing is always so witty, and though it is apparent after reading a few of her books there is definitely a formula, it didn't feel stale and the story and tension were balanced well.
What I really appreciated was that Josie's brother did not pull the "how dare you date my sister when I told you not to" BS. Once Wes assured him that he was serious about Josie, her brother was cool with their relationship and it was refreshing when he helped Wes figure out his shit when he pulled back from Josie.

I liked this book enough.
The premise was interesting, and the writing kept me engaged. My only complaint is that every issue that arose seemed to be resolved too easily or conveniently.
I also found that I didn’t really understand the MMC’s personality. It was generic? So I didn’t get attached. It was a decent book, but I can’t see myself remembering what it was about one week from now.
