I loved this. It's nice to meet a hockey romance hero who's not all about sleeping with random girls every chance. Wesley seems like a regular guy who happens to be a professional athlete. He's focused and dedicated and seems just... normal. Josey is a type A, nerdy girls girl who loves books and is trying to get her first professional post grad degree job.

I liked both these characters. The author sold me on their romance and chemistry. It was the perfect balance between steamy and romantic. I even choked up a little when we learned about Josie's relationship with her aunt Greta.

Will certainly be revisiting more work from this author!

Kicking myself for not getting to this ALC earlier. It was so good. The narrator’s were fantastic, the story was adorable and the characters were so funny.

I loved that Josie was a book nerd and so into research. I totally related to her. Wes(ley) was total boyfriend goals. He is so giving and they know each other so well. They just work so well and that dirty talk in the bedroom is HOT. I also liked that characters from My Hockey Romance series makes a cameo.

Lauren Blakely’s The Boyfriend Goal is a fantastic blend of humor, romance, steam and only a little hockey-related fun. This story follows Josie, a librarian in a new job with a disastrous start and surprisingly hot end to the first day in her new(ish) city. She then finds herself sharing a house with her brother’s hot hockey teammate, Wes. Who was of course deliciously involved in the aforementioned hot ending. Their initial arrangement as friends with benefits quickly turns into something more complicated as they discover deeper feelings for each other.
Blakely’s writing style is witty and engaging, keeping readers hooked from the very beginning. The banter between Josie and Wes is both hilarious and heartwarming, creating a believable relationship. The balance of lighthearted moments with more serious emotional depth is impressive.
Blakely provides glimpses into the hockey players’ lives, both on and off the ice, adding a layer of realism to the story. The setting also allows for some fun hockey-related anecdotes.
The plot is predictable for experienced romance readers in the pleasant rom-com way, The Boyfriend Goal still manages to deliver a satisfying and enjoyable experience. If you’re looking for a feel-good romance with a touch of hockey-themed excitement, this book is definitely worth checking out.
