I do believe we need books about bullying, and this has a good message of the new girl who just plays regardless of the playground bully, and eventually (spoiler alert!) asks the bully to play with her. What I didn't like is all the use of repetition and rhyme, both of which felt forced and didn't add to the story.

Nice use of language and a good story for kids. Definitely a plot they can follow and relate to.

Good book for both school and manners themes. Great for read-a-louds with all the hilarious onomatopoeia for Mean Jean's bullying actions. Makes a good pairing with Hooway for Wodney Wat.

This is a book about bullying and how even bullies need friends too. It would make children think about the way they treat others and the way others treat them.

Adorable little book and we especially loved that the little girl who took on Mean Jean happens to be named Katie. <3
