Mafia romance unlike others

Woah!!!! I devoured this book in just over a day and abit ....(pesky things like work. Family, sleep kind of get in the way!).

But I good book. I really like Olivia and Luca.....(fans myself).... usually I'm quite wary on mafia romance, too much mafia, killing, torture that kind of stuff. The authors did such a good job that those moments are easy to read and not super hectic or too descriptive.

I love Justine and the easy report that her and Olivia have. Then we have the spice! Very spicy!!

But that cliffhanger...gosh I definitely did not see that coming!!!!! Now to wait 3 very long weeks for book 2!

I read this one so fast and now I’m angry that there’s a cliffhanger because I’m dying to know what happens next.

While on the lighter side of darker romance, Luca and Olivia’s story is a wild ride for sure. There are plenty of mafia elements (violence, torture, the like..), but those who haven’t dove into the deep end of dark romance might find this a great starting point!

The dual POV is my favorite, because you get into the mind of both characters and get to see how things are perceived to each. Luca is a man that’s always in control, so I loved his POVs when he focuses on his lack of control when it comes to Olivia and his feelings toward her.

Olivia was one sassy brat. And given the situation she’s currently in, she’s gonna need to keep that attitude. While sassy, I loved getting to see her open up to Luca and other side characters and ultimately putting her trust in the wrong people, leading to this danged cliffie!

There weren’t many spicy scenes, but the chemistry between Luca and Olivia is certainly there and I’m hoping the next book gives us more of them together!

This is my first book by these authors and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I could tell early on that this would be a good book with the style of writing. These authors somehow manage to use the perfect combination of words to put together a story that I could 'feel' whilst reading.
The first few chapters introduces us to both characters and right away you can tell they are from very different worlds.
Olivia is quiet and innocent, who is struggling to make ends meet, while Luca is no stranger to violence and owns one of, if not, the richest companies in the city.
There was non-stop action the minute Olivia witnessed something she shouldn't. I enjoyed the fast pace of this story, and how strong Olivia stayed throughout.
She didn't let what was happening break her, she seemed to adapt and evolve and I loved the bits where she reflects on this. I do have to admit that for me, Luca takes a bit of warming up to, he does have his moments, but that's his character. He's grown up and spent his adult life not showing weakness, or being distracted, he's cold and ruthless and doesn't want to let himself feel anything. Olivia does bring out a different side to him though and I love that she's chaos to his order.
It is a slow burn, but the spicy scenes we do get are worth it! I enjoyed the character building as well as our introduction to Luca's world. The last few Chapters kept me hooked and I was white knuckling my e-reader not knowing what was happening and then that cliffhanger!! This was a really great book, and one I'd recommend to lovers of slow burn Mafia romance. Looking forward to Luca and Olivia's conclusion! Thank you!

OMG there were illustrations! There was only 2 I believe but I was so surprised when I flipped the page on my kindle and there was an illustration. I loved it. Please tell me the physical copy will have these and I will be purchasing immediately. Luca and Olivia were written well. The dual POV is always my favorite. Getting to see inside the minds of each main character is something I love in books. I enjoyed their chemistry and tension. I can’t wait to see more of them. They were just starting to come together and then boom! Cliffhanger. That cliffhanger killed me. I knew a cliffhanger was coming but I didn’t think it’d end like that! I need more. I was so excited when I heard that the author was branching out into a different genre. There may not have been any magic or paranormal in this story, but it had all the other components of a Heather Renee book. It had murder, angst, suspense, and a sprinkle of spice. I can’t wait to read more dark romance mafia in the next book.

This book one in The Wicked duet and is the start of Luca and Olivia's crazy story.

Olivia has had a rough go of it. Her father left when she was young, and her mother died recently. She lives an ok life with a job she doesn't love and only a few friends. Olivia decided to enter herself into an auction with the hopes of making a little money to help pay some bills.

When the auction is over, she leaves out the back door and runs into something she shouldn't see and almost loses her life. She is saved by the man with the winning bid from the auction.

Except, saved is a loose term because what comes next is nothing like Olivia ever expected.

Luca is a ruthless mafia boss who sees her as a liability, yet something stirs in him, and he promises to keep her safe. He has to keep in control, so he treats her as if she is a prisoner, at first, and keeps her locked away. Slowly, he lets her in and vows to keep her, even though she doesn't belong in his world.

Someone wants Olivia dead, and there is a traitor among them. Luca protects Olivia until...

Cliffhanger. An amazing, agonizing cliffhanger that made me say "well, s**t."

I just love when the ruthless billionaire mafia boss falls for the ordinary yet beautiful girl, and he can help himself. Luca and Olivia are total opposites, yet she lets out some of her darkness around him, and he shows a softer side that no one else gets to see.

I made it a third of the way through this book before deciding it wasn’t holding my attention enough. I didn’t feel the connection between the main characters, it wasn’t believable in the few interactions they had. Also, the mmc put the fmc in an actual basement solitary confinement cell for the first couple days. It just didn’t sit right with me that she was going to magically fall in love with this guy after that. Finally, I thought the fmc acted pretty immature.

The writing itself was fine, the plot just couldn’t hold my attention.
