This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. The magic is so real, you can almost feel it. I was completely lost in the story and caught up in the beauty of Clara’s failures and triumphs and the transformative power of love. Simply incredible.

If you are looking for a novel full of adventures and actions, then the Nature of Witches is not the right book for you. This young adult fiction is a slow path read, slowly resolving around the wheel of year and the character of Clara. Witches are closely linked to one season in particular, and can only use their full power capacity during their season. Clara is different. The teenager is an Everwitch, a very rare specimen whose magic is tied to every season. But as we say, with great power comes great responsibility. It is said that the young witch is the only one who can save the world as terrible weather destroys numerous lives, but there is a problem : she is terrified to use her powers as they killed her loved ones in the past.

I enjoyed The Nature of Witches in many aspects. Rachel Griffin’s world building is interesting and the use of the Seasonal themes quite original . It is the coming of age story of a young girl who learns to know herself and gains confidence in her capabilities. Clara is a complex character and seeing her evolution throughout the novel was captivating.
