This is more of a 4 stars for me! I quite enjoyed the story and love books that take place in Scotland (for some odd reason I haven't yet figured out). Once you start reading this book it will give you what you expect, but not EVERYTHING that you want. I wished at some points near the end that there would be a little bit more drama, but I am quite a content reader. I do not often complain about books but rather accept them for what they are. I am very glad to have met the characters in this story and loved the development of the main character Jenny throughout the story. One of the main parts that I loved was that they mentioned homosexual relationships (and in a good light!) as well as a former theoretical physicist turned priest! It sure shut down many sterotypes in that way, as well as making it a point that a family of strong headed males were saved from the financial stability of a woman (and not the usual reverse situation).
I am very glad to have read this book and recommend to those looking for a light, fast read of the dreamy castles one would find in Scotland!

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did , it took me quite by surprise! I’m always a fan of anything to do with family dramas and ghosts and this book definitely has plenty of that. My only complaint is that it was FAR too long. In some spots it just rambled on so pointlessly and would have been far more enjoyable if it had been trimmed down a bit!

If we all had an enraged individuel in our lives, it would certainly not be as bad as the crazy wife in this book; I had a hard time putting the book down to do my daily chores because I had to know what was coming next. For those who are as book crazy as I am, you know full well what it means when "just one more chapter" becomes half the book ;)
