After a woman is killed on a flight from Paris to London on which Poirot is a passenger, the Belgian sleuth does what he does best. The idea of using a plane for a locked room murder mystery is original and there are enough plausible suspects to keep you guessing to the end, but it gets a bit repetitive when Poirot and his fellow investigators keep summing up what they know. I wasn't entirely sold on the killer's motivation and the elaborate means of achieving it, but the story is strong in terms of Poirot's investigation and his willingness to manipulate suspects to unearth the truth. An aspect of the crime would have worked better when the story was written than it does now. It's a decent Poirot mystery but not one of the better ones.

Interesting, what you could bring on an airplane back then.

This one kept me guessing even though I could swear I’ve read it before 😂 Agatha Christie just knows how to craft a complex plot where there is enough detail that you can see all the clues you missed in hindsight. And Poirot himself is just so delightful and avuncular. Rest assured if you end up mixed up in a murder and you are innocent, Papa Poirot will play matchmaker and find you a suitable spouse.

First finish of 2019. I had a suspicion who it would be but couldn't say why and did not predict the path it took to get there.

I need to read more of Christie's work. This wasn't as good as Orient Express, but it was GOOD

Oh. My. Goodness. I missed it. The clue walked in front of me and I missed it!
