Great work by our boy Charlie D.
It's amazing that he made so many accurate predictions especially considering he knew nothing of genetics. Mendel and his peas didn't roll around until a couple of decades later. Charles's lack of knowledge regarding genetics is proven even further when you find out he had his kids with his first cousin.

Can be tough going, but some of it is written so elloquently it is a piece of art, other parts seem to labour on.

Expectations high because of its reputation, I found the book slow-paced and quite boring. Not a word about human evolution! Darwin was no Dawkins in terms of wording and pacing, but this book led to a major paradigm shift in human thought. Its enormous impact cannot be disputed.
