Just ok. The close minded LDS bishop is an easy punching bag stand in for all anti-lgbtq clergy, instead of a nuanced bishop who might have to think about and struggle with his stance. Chris is a bit of a doormat, and I don't believe Joshua/Julian would have gotten a French accent in just five years away.
Plus, why are neither of the leads physically described very much. I don't think we even know what color hair Chris has. I can't picture either of them in my minds eye aside from vaguely studly.
I also feel like the authors missed out on an opportunity around Julian's former girlfriend. We see her briefly and are told she married a bit of an ass...but nothing else. She's used as a plot device for Chris to deal with insecurity, and to show all LDS people are not an anti-gay monolith. She's not used as a real person though, one who lost her entire future when Joshua left.
