But life once more gets complicated and perhaps dangerous when Charlie is drawn into a series of low profile deaths in the area. She's very well acquainted with her father's work, the spring locks that hold his robots together and the damage they can do when set off with a human inside. The bodies are found with injuries matching those from a spring lock suit. But the robots were removed from Freddy Fazbear's after the last disastrous adventure, and the villain is out of the picture so what can be causing the deaths?
Much like the first novel, this is a fairly muted horror novel wrapped up in a crime/mystery gift box. It's got a definite creepy air and build up of suspense, but the horror doesn't ramp up until the concluding chapters. The character group is somewhat smaller here as well, which generally works well for the novel. I liked the blending of crime and horror, with the sense of unease and uncertainty that pervaded through the novel. Could have done without the giant cliff-hanger it finished on though!
