Lauren & Jex’s story is so amazing! I love how different all of these stories are. Sometimes in a series like this they can start to blur together. Jex’s position made me really wary of him, but he totally won me over. Watching Lauren fall for him was so sweet!

It was better than expected. I didn't particularly like Jex, he's kind of an asshole, but at least he tries. Plot is kinda simple, and the world is mildly interesting. We have at least three factions, and apparently we're meeting all of them via the women who were taken by those aliens, in the next books in the series. I'm curious enough to want to read the next.

Horrible. Had to speed through the end. Both Mmc and fmc were unlikeable. Plot was slow and too much time on a space ship and then wandering a forest.

World building is good, character development is not terrible but the FMC is mid throughout. Spice was good when it finally hits.
The book ended so abruptly that it really pissed me off. All that work and words spent world building and then nothing when it starts to really get good plot-wise? UGH. I was going to read the second book anyway to find out what happens to the other female humans and the over-arching plot. There was honestly no need to cut it off like that. It was actually insulting and cheap AF.
Spice: 3/5 not super descriptive or noteworthy but a fine climax to the angst and tension.
