Good things come in small packages - so the saying goes. This is true about Humphrey. He is a small hamster with a big heart. Life is good for Humphrey - he lives in room 26 in an elementary school. The students adore him, and Ms. Mac, the teacher, brings him home each weekend for loads of adventure and fun. His world comes crashing down when he learns that Ms. Mac is leaving since she is only a substitute, and Mrs. Brisbane, the regular teacher, seems to have it out for him. Luckily, Humphrey has a few tricks up his sleeve, plus a cage that a looks like it is locked, but really isn't. Get ready to see the world from Humphrey's point of view, learn a bit about hamsters and humans!

Humphrey is a cute hamster the lives in a classroom and helps teach the students life lessons along the way. I read this as a read aloud with my kiddo and it made for enjoyable family time. It also brought conversations into our household and learning opportunities about how other families lived (and why things were squeaked instead spoken).

I read this for my 9 year olds mother/daughter book club. I love how insightful Humphrey is and not only sees a need in people but finds a way to help them.

The book starts out a little slow... But ends up being a great little story! Most importantly: you can learn a lot about yourself by getting to know a different species.

This is such a cute book for kids about a hamster in a classroom. You get to see how to hamster helps out the students and staff in their problems and it is such a cute read. Very nostalgic
