I read this quite a few years ago. I remember it with a lot of love, as this was the first book I took from the library when I lived in Santiago for a year. It was the first one to be with me in the long rides on the subway, and to keep me entertained in the lonely nights without my family.
I really want to re-read it.

Links The Forest House and The Mists of Avalon (sequel to Forest House and prequel to Mists).
The story begins right where The Forest House leaves off. The novel is divided into three parts, each telling the story of a different priestess of Avalon. But, of course, keeping with the idea of reincarnation, all three stories are connected--Caillean, Dierna, and Vivianne.
My only complaint is that each story could have easily been it's own novel and I wished more MORE.

I think that in playing upon the success of “Mists of Avalon” she wrote weaker and weaker material. As one other reviewer said on Goodreads “I learned from this book that one shouldn’t try to milk a successful concept beyond its possibilities.” Enough said.

This book is an immediate prequel of "The Mists..." - it ends and the storyline in "The Mists..." begins. It's divided to 3 parts - the first part is the continuation of "The Forest House", the second part is simultaneously going along with the "Priestess of Avalon" and both storylines share characters, the third part is about the childhood of Viviane.
I liked it overall, it's not as mystical as "The Mists...", but the stories are important for the big finale revealed in the last chronological book of the series. We learn why Avalon goes into the mists, for example. Most of the characters are portrayed vividly and the book is more character-driven than action-driven, although a lot happens in these pages. I liked the way it portrayed the different religions and bound parts and themes from the previous stories.
However, I needed more on the first two stories, especially the first one seemed very rushed and I hadn't had time to start truly caring for the characters.
