Sometimes you have to look for criticism of colonisation in old works. A very good book about the oppression of Native Americans.

The problem of the extermination of the indigenous population by cowboys in California and Texas was very important theme for a civilised author (Karl May) in the 19th century. That is why there are two positive main characters in his novel: the teacher Karl and the young Apache chief Winnetou. In this story, the narrator is a young European who is intelligent, handsome, strong, noble and merciful, as prescribed by his Christian religion. He emerges victorious from the most improbable traps, turns everyone to the good and even outshines the noble Indian Winnetou.

A fine opener to the adventure series.

Élveztem Old Shutterhand és Winnetou történetét, ami később Old Death társaságában folytatódott. (1. könyv: Old Shatterhand, 2. könyv: Old Death)

Winnetou 1 is an amazing book, I would recommend everyone to read it.

It tells a story of German man who goes to Wild West to create a railroad. During his stay he clashes with different native-american tribes which leads to his friendship with Winnetou, Apache chief.

I read this for the second time, previously I read it while I was in elementary school, I read it now and it is still amazing book!
