Kim Law's Montana Cherries is a beautifully complex story of love, family, and the emotions that bind to two. Kim's characters are so very real and lovable. My heart crumbled for Dani. She'll do anything for her family, even if it means putting her own life on hold. Now, just when she is ready to step out on her own, she is blindsided by the truth about her mom. As her true memories come flooding back, she's rocked to her core and left breathless. After his four year old daughter is left on his doorstep, Ben is clueless about how to raise her. All he knows is that he is determined to do a better job with her than his mother did with him. Back under the same roof, Ben and Dani can't resist the attraction that still lingers between them even after so many years. Ben helps Dani heal and rebuild the relationship with her family, while Dani helps Ben become a loving parent. As time passes, hearts are healed and the bonds of family are strengthened.
I adored Montana Cherries. I loved the real portrayal of the Wilde family. Things are not good for them for the most part, but you get a feeling that it will get better as the book progresses. I didn't realize this until I was almost finished with the book, but it reminded me a lot of the relationship between my mom and my grandmother. That made me really connect with Dani as she starts to remember more about her childhood. I cried along with her as she confronted her brothers and father. I cheered her on as she made the steps to freedom. And as she realizes that dreams change, I was right there with her. I loved watching her reconnect with not only Ben, but also with her own family. I have a inkling that Montana Cherries will stay with me for quite some time.

Montana Cherries is a great book. The story is not easy to tell. Kim Law tells a story that deals with a mental illness and how it affects a family. The fallout from this illness is disastrous to everyone in the family. I do not have much experience with mental illness but I do know that Montana Cherries is told with dignity, grace, and understanding to all those who have to deal with this in their real lives.
I felt for Dani. She grew up with distorted memories of her deceased mother. These memories haunt her and make her strive to do everything possible to make her mother happy. Unfortunately for Dani these memories made her give up her life to play “mother” to her brothers. I wanted her to go to New York, I was ecstatic when she did go, and even happier at what happen while she was there. By dealing with the past she was able to move on with her life and find her future.
Ben, oh alpha, sexy Ben. I was his biggest fan. Ben needed to figure out how to win Dani. I truly believe that they are the perfect (or as close to perfect as can be)couple. Ben proved himself to me again and again with how he dealt with his adorable daughter, Haley. Men like him are rare. The respect, love, and understanding that he showed Dani and her entire family made him a real man in my eyes.
I cannot end this review without talking about the location. I have never been to Montana, yet I could picture the ranch, the towns, and the beach as Kim Law described them. I want to live in the house with all the rooms, windows, deck, and family that Dani learned to love again in. I want to see the area that Ben and Haley put roots down in. Montana Cherries played like a movie to me. I could hear the characters, see the scenery, and feel the emotions as I read.
Definitely pick up this book. You will not be sorry.

Montana Cherries reminded me a little of a Robyn Carr book (and if you have been around for a while you know how much I LOVE those). There is so much more going on here than just the romance between Dani and Ben, which would be great on its own. There are also family issues (on both sides), plus a few hard-hitting secrets. Both Dani and Ben have to learn where they belong, how they fit into their families and some interesting truths about themselves & those around them.
(I’m going to have to give a little bit of a spoiler because Dani’s whole storyline is impacted by it. So if you don’t want to know skip past this paragraph :) ) Dani and her brothers were seriously jacked up by her mom, although Dani has blocked it out for years. You go thru the first half of the book thinking that her mom was wonderful and then you get quite a shocker. This leads to a lot of soul-searching and therapy for her to understand how her mom has controlled her life and her decisions ever since … and how it has impacted her family. It is devastating but I was thrilled that Law had her get professional help. In her Acknowledgments she talks about how this process had to be shortened for the book and I really appreciate her comments about the issues & why she had to handle it the say she did. It shows a nice understanding about how devastating something like this truly can be.
I will say I was a little surprised by Ben about 2/3 of the way thru. Up to that point he’d shown an amazing understanding of Dani’s needs and had been wonderfully supportive. But then his ego and heart get a little damaged and he seemed to forget all of that. Once he gets over himself though it does help get us to an ending that is just too darn sweet for words.
Dani has some brothers that will likely have stories of their own which will be just as full of emotional issues as this one and I can’t wait to see where Law takes them. If she continues to display the same thoughtfulness with them as she did with Dani, they are going to have quite the rollercoaster ride.

**My thanks to NetGalley and Montlake Romance, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
This is the first book that I have read by this author and after this book, I would certainly not hesitate to read more of her work.
This book may be light on the romance, but the drama of the story really grips you with the emotions that both Dani Wilde and Ben Denton feel.
For Dani, after having taken care of her father and brothers since her mothers death 10 years ago, she is FINALLY on the road to living her dream and moving to New York. She character shows endless love to her family and great loyalty, but things start to go a little wrong when an old childhood sweetheart returns with a daughter he didn't know he had.
Ben is still in love with Dani and is patient and kind towards her, but lets her know what he wants. He is there when she needs him, he anticipates what she needs, and she helps him connect with his daughter.
After a shocking discovery that turns Dani's world upside down, Dani closes in on herself for self preservation. It may hurt a few of those around her, but she does it for good reasons.
Even though this book was light on the romance, I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters in the book. I honestly hope that there are other books after this one for the other brothers as they deserve a HEA.
I would certainly recommend this book for the story and for the HEA.

I'm always on the lookout for new authors. This one was recommended to me and what a great book it was. I like that the author brought up a certain mental health disorder. One, that I'm familiar with as I was married to a man with it. It took me to almost losing myself before I escaped. Even though this one was a quick turn around in regards to Dani, it is romance, so I was willing to let it slide. I wanted a further explanation of Michelle and Gage. I'm assuming that it is a separate story. If that's the case, I would have liked them not to have been such a large portion of the book. Or at least Michelle.

My review of Montana Cherries by Kim Law:
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Montana Cherries is a wonderful read. The characters are well developed and the dynamics between characters are great. This one will tug at your heart strings as you become more and more involved in the story of Dani Wilde and her brothers and her father. Dani is a strong woman full of love and compassion, but when not so pleasant memories of her mother start entering her mind she begins to question who she really is.
Enter Ben Denton and his four year old daughter Haley and Dani just becomes even more confused about who she is. She is set to move to New York a life long dream of hers when Ben reenters her life, she can not deny her attraction to Ben and their friendship that they developed so many years ago just picks right back up. Ben and Dani are totally at ease in each others company once they discuss the one time that they slept together years ago.
But as her brothers return home and plans for the future of their farm changes Dani feels more at a loss than ever and then a secret comes to light that was kept from Dani by her brother's and father. Will Dani ever be able to forgive them? All she knows is that she must leave as planned no matter how Ben feels about her, she just needs to find out who she is and what she wants to do with her life before she can even begin to think about sharing it with anyone else.
Grab your tissues before you start reading this one you will need them. This book is a wonderful choice for anyone who loves a great romance with family love and drama added in to the mix.

Interesting read, and I definitely want to learn more about the Wilde siblings...although I think Dani's healing was a little too fast to be realistic.
