These “Goosebumps” books are, surprisingly/unsurprisingly incredibly fun to reread as an adult— and this one is no exception. This was more hilarious than I ever remember it being— the obliviousness of the kids to what their father is doing in the basement, their willingness to accept strange things about their dad (leaves growing out of his head!)— and this is decently creepy for kids, playing with themes from “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” and “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Didn't enjoy this quite as much as the first one but it's still a solid premise! The climax in trying to figure out who is plant Dad and who is real dad was fun!

one of the better non-ghosty ones i always liked. i loved how creepy the plant-dad is, and i love how you’re never too sure whether they get left with their real dad or another clone. the little dad-flower whispering to her at the end is also so creepy arrggh!!

This was one of the better Goosebumps books. It was pretty creepy and kept me guessing. It was also a horror premise that I can't remember being done before and seemed more original than the typical werewolf/vampire/haunted house cliche horror premises. The ending was a bit weird, but this one will definitely give the kids some nightmares.
