Beautiful Duology
This duology will stick with me for a long time, and that is largely because of the soulful characterizations of the main characters. They had rich internal monologues and a fabulous dynamic. These characters filled my heart! Also, this second book was much more plot focused than the first, with even higher stakes. Strong recommendation for all romantasy lovers. Adult with spice but not driven by it.

More action-packed than the previous book, Radiance (not that that's a bad thing), but still full of Brishen and Ildiko's wonderful relationship. Loved the subplot with the baby Queen, and adored the relationship between Kirgipa and Necos. And I'm glad to see sha-Anhuset again. :D Every word she speaks makes me smile.

This book was fine but I don't think I'll be continuing with the series.

After a bit of digging I learned that there will be a Book 3 in this series! However as excited as I am for it I also think this book serves as an adequate end. At least, I'm not going to be waiting in agony for #3!
Other reviewers have mentioned how this book turns more toward politics and suspense than the relationship, which was so dominant in the first book, but I think there was a half and half balance. The situation and tragedy they're facing in the kingdom matched the angst between Brishen and Ildiko as they try to figure out how their futures will end up. While there were a few moments where I wanted to say "Just sit down and talk it out guys," I think they both reacted pretty rationally, and eventually did see reason/work it out. Their ultimate decisions made my heart so happy.
I liked that the world was a little more fleshed out this time, the despair felt by this entire race of people felt palpable – and so too did the intense emotions in Brishen and Ildiko feel alive. The solution for saving the world was an interesting concept, and as the series is called Wraith Kings, I appreciated the build up in book 1 to what you come to understand in book 2.
Altogether, it's like Grace Draven knew exactly what I wanted and made it happen!

Read back to back with radiance. I almost wish they were one book? This one was all action no soft. Much more fantasy political intrigue.
