I've yet to read a Liz Moore book that I didn't absolutely adore. She crafts characters and atmosphere in equal captivating measure, allowing the details that shape the overlapping mysteries of Barbara and Bear Van Laar's disappearances to slowly leak out, the prime suspect changing with each turn of the page. If this is the book that earns Moore even more fans, I'm all for it.

Wow this was a good end of summer read. The book was a little confusing with the time jumps and the different characters. Eventually when I was able to piece everything together and the story picked up I couldn’t put it down.
Okay, the ending was kind of flat. Like, it’s nice that Barbara was alive but how everything stated before made it seem like something more sinister happened. Such as, what happened with Bear. It’s also really sad to know that they kept it from Alice and how they drugged her all the time.
