The God of the Woods is a solid literary thriller. While at times the novel can be confusing, with its cast of many characters and story lines, ultimately it proves to be interesting, thoughtful, and even hopeful.

The main aspect of the book I find interesting is its comparison of women. While characters like Alice and Annabel rely on men for their safety and purpose (to the point of hysteria and, arguably, idiocy), the selection of strong women and girls (Louise, Judy, Barbara) give the novel its backbone. It’s fitting that the story is set in the ‘70s, when modern feminism really starts making an impact in the United States.

There are other parts of the novel to consider as well, such as upper class vs. lower class. I enjoyed the book, and I look forward to the author’s future works.

This book is both a thrilling mystery and a chance to reminisce about childhood summers spent at camp. I was impressed by Liz Moore’s ability to weave multiple timelines and perspectives into one coherent story. I did feel that some sections could have been cut or shortened. Nevertheless, the back stories and tangents don’t interrupt the plot, but rather enhance it. Overall, this is a very good story and well worth the time it took to read it.

Not sure necessarily why it says it's set in the 1960s and 1970s-maybe to set the stage for gender roles and available technology. It was a compelling read, but I wasn't blown away by it.

I thought this was a really well written story -  I could see readers who loved Where the Crawdads Sing really enjoying this one for some reason I can’t quite place. I really did enjoy the story line although I wasn’t attached to any character. I am a known hater of multiple POVs and fair warning if you are similar: there is a LOT of POV and timeline jumping in this one. But the author is clearly talented and I appreciate when an author can make/help me visual the moments I’m reading
