There are some things i dont like about this book but they all kind of fall to the wayside while you're gripped by the admittedly clever plot and trying to figure out the crime. Its just an incredibly well done novel that makes it hard to hate it, even if you have to remember not to take it too seriously at times. It it also has one of the best plot twists ive ever read when
detective littlemore terrifies everyone by sitting up right on the morgue table when hes meant to be dead, brilliant characterisation prior to this bc it just fits him so well to do something like that. One of the best characters
I have a soft spot for any historical fiction as meticulously researched as this, the way it weaves fact and fiction is really impressive.
