Another beautifully written story by Cameo Renae. This one didn't make me cry like the others did, however, I was still captivated straight from the start. Descent gave us more understanding of the world Cameo has Created with Hidden Wings and Broken Wings. We learn more about the beginning from not just the Fallen and the Darklings but about the Nephilim as well. We also get to see different sides from characters we don't learn too much about in Hidden Wings. I loved that we got to see how it all started. We not only learned about Emma's beginning but her mothers as well.
I really loved this story, I was intrigued from the beginning and once I started I couldnt stop. The characters connected so well and were wonderfully written. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who loved YA Fantasy. I must warn you though, once you have started reading Cameo Renae's work, you will become addicted, it is the drug you can't get enough of!!!

This is SUCH a great way to fill in the blanks and background story for Samuel and Alaine. Theirs is a tragic story, full of pain and heartache, but also love and happiness, and you can feel it all through Cameo's words. She's such a wonderful writer, and I look forward to more of these novellas for some of the other characters (perhaps the Guardians? *wink wink*). Great addition to the series!!
5 stars =)

I'm so in love with this series and Cameo Renae's writing. This novella was short, but it explained so much and made Alaine and Samuel's story so clear. I can't wait to start the second book in this series! The feels are just too real here. Definitely a must read after you've read the first book. I was hesitant about reading it, -because let's be real, I wanted to continue this story- but I'm so happy I read this.

Descent is the prequel to the Hidden Wings series. It is a coupling of mini back stories that fills in the blanks of the mysteries concealed in Hidden Wings. Yet I do not recommend you read Descent first. I rather loved the discovery of Hidden Wings and was able to fully enjoy Descent after the unraveling in Hidden Wings.
In Descent you are introduced to a Fallen Angel, Samuel and told his tale through his eyes. In the next chapter, you're introduced to a random women who had a one-night stand with an angel. The next chapters highlight how her love child later went down the same path courting an angelic being. All these seemingly random love stories are connected and the back stories to the events later played out in Hidden Wings.
Descent was the perfect companion to this series and I devoured that I one sitting!

What a great little story! I read Hidden Wings so fast, and luckily the next book was waiting for me, but I started Decsent, because I wanted to find out more about Samuel and Alaine. They are such a Romeo & Juliet star crossed, destined lovers, and I love that we meet them as Emma's parents in Hidden Wings, and I love that they get to be together! This short novella covers the birth of Alanie, her life with her adopted parents, Samuel meeting Alaine, and then the birth of Emma, and passing her on to Alaine's half sister to raise! We also get the story of how Samuel survived being executed, and who helped me. It's a great interesting filler story to give you more background on some things you may have wondered about, and give you a really sweet interesting look at the parents of Emma, and their personal story. I really loved it, there's not a lot of plot arc, because we're experiencing important parts of various stories, but Alaine with the wolves was pretty intense, and gives us a fun look at her powers as a half angel. We also get some more hints at who Alaine's father is. I have a guess but I'm holding on to it, I won't tell! :) Overall, loved these little short peek into the history before Emma. Great read!

This series is one of the best series I can, (and do), recommend to parents for their teens. I love that this series can be read and enjoyed by both the parent and child. There are not a lot of series that can do that (Off the top of my head, Harry Potter is probably the only other series I constantly recommend as a family read). Yes I do believe Cameo Renae is that good. Descent is a novella in the Hidden Wings series. It is an Angel Series. Hidden Wings is the first book in the series but Descent can be read before or after. Hidden Wings give us the story of Emma and Descent tells us from who Emma comes. I really liked that the author went into some detail not only about the birth family but also about the adopted family of Emma and that she brought in a loving relationship between half sisters. I know that can sound sappy but Cameo Renae makes it work without the sap. Descent offers up a heady story of romance, intrigue and danger. It tells the story of parental love, (both angel and human), that goes so deep it is felt even when the parent is unknown and it allows for heartbreaking decisions. I highly recommend this book and series. No bad language, graphic sex or gratuitous violence. This book is, imo, great for younger teens and enjoyable by older teens and adults as well.

This novella was at the end of the first book in this series. I loved getting so much back story, it answered so many questions that I was left with after reading the first book. It is a must read for anyone that is starting the series, it provided so much more emotional ties to the characters and their stories.

Really enjoyed this prequel story about Emma's parents and grandparents. I wish I read this before Hidden Wings because I wouldn't have spent so much time wondering about certain things. Unfortunately Amazon has this listed as number 1.5, so I thought it was a sequel as opposed to a prequel. Still, I enjoyed this as I did Hidden Wings and look forward to reading the next installment.
